This is a very exciting time of life, with your son or daughter about to begin in Middle/High School. We have seen that this time of transition is greatly improved when they get connected into Student Impact as soon as possible. This gives them the chance to meet people who they will go to school with, plus an opportunity to starting building the spiritual community that they will have for the next several years.
Bi-Monthy Youth Meeting
Our bi-monthy parents meeting is another way for us to stay in touch with you, and vice versa. We'll update you about what's coming up over the next quarter for your student, answer any questions you might have, etc. This is a great time for you to connect with some of our Youth Staff, as well as other parents. Please don't miss this important meeting that only happens six times a year!
This years dates are February 19th - 12:00PM April 22nd - 12:00PM June 10th - 6:00PM
Resources
Teenagers are a blessing. But do you ever feel like you just don't live in the world they do?! Things have changed since you were in Middle School or High School, and that can make navigating today's teen culture very challening. However, we're committed to helping you along the way. We will occasionally be updating this area of the website with new resources for you as it relates to your teenager. If you have any questions, feel free to email Pastor Corey at coreyb@fellowshipwesleyan.org.
Movie Reviews
The things we place in front of our eyes and allow our minds to focus on will ultimately affect the way we think. Here's the dilemma - you don't have time to see every movie before your teenager does, and movie ratings don't often reflect the true nature of the content in most movies today. One of the BEST resources we have found that paints a very accurate portrayal of the content in today's movies is the movie review section of Plugged In Online. Click here to check it out now. We would also encourage you to discuss the content of these movies WITH your teenager instead of just laying down the law. Help them to begin to ask their own questions about what they watch!
Internet Accountability
The Internet is a wonderful tool and it's a great way to stay in touch with friends and family. However, it can also be a great hindrance. as our culture continues to become more sexually saturated, so does the internet. So much so, that it's difficult to browse without coming across a questionable ad uses sex to sell a product. With this comes GREAT temptation for curious teenagers, which can lead to a crippling addiction to pornography.
There are two Internet Accountability softwares that we recommend and we encourage you to check both out before making a decision: X3 Watch - free and paid options, including mobile options for iPhone, iPad, and Android Covenant Eyes - paid options, including mobile options for iPhone and iPad
